Hey, everyone! Long time no see, huh?
One year and three months later, I thought that maybe (but just maybe!) it was 'bout time I updated my page with a brand-new journal!
As you sure have noticed, I haven't updated my dA page very often in the past year. I actually spent most of the time working on my coloring skills... and, as a result, I didn't draw much. My artistic career has gone down a different road, I'm now working as a comic book colorist for IDW Publishing! This is actually my first step as a professional, so I'm still trying to adjust to schedules and deadlines without losing my mind - the worst (or best?) part of being a freelancer working from your parents' house is that you actually never set foot outside for long periods of time... but somehow I'm getting by. Also, I'm learning tons of new stuff about coloring and shading. And most importantly... where does all this money come from, all of the sudden?? :'D
I would've loved to improve my drawing skills too, during the past year, but, the more I kept on studying the basics from different approaches, the harder it got to really enjoy what I was doing. I tried to be a good self-taught student - I followed many art lessons on Youtube, tried to get the hang of how to construct a human body with shapes and volumes, sketched quite a lot and copied various artists I admire, but... in the end, I feel like I haven't made any concrete progress at all, and now I kinda feel bored and unenthusiastic... which is sad, really sad for me, since drawing has always been a major part of what I am and what I do. It's like I've lost the sparkle, or something like that... I do believe it's only a temporary phase, though. 2016 has been a very tough year in many ways, I worked a lot and some events in my personal life forced me to struggle a lot to go on with a peaceful state of mind. Maybe it's about time I escaped from my comfort zone and tried to face the drawing process from different angles.
Oh, almost forgot! 2016 hasn't been all bad, surprisingly! I'm now a proud and happy auntie of a beautiful baby girl... and this is the coolest thing ever!
So... I guess that's it! I don't think I'll ever be as much active on dA as I used to be in the past, simply because... that's how things evolve! But I really hope that, from time to time, I'll be able to update something nice in my gallery to get some precious, useful feedbacks, just like the old days! Also, I take the chance to say a big THANK YOU to all my new watchers and people who have always supported me, even though I haven't been very active lately... you guys are simply the best!
Till next time! A big hug to everybody!
Ale

Long time no see! (aka, a small update on life)
Hey, everybody! How's going?
I've been away from dA for so long! I still check my messages from time to time, but I haven't posted anything in a very long time! By the way, sometimes I throw some stuff on my Instagram account, which is "faster" to use. If you want to take a look, my page is right here! --> https://www.instagram.com/alessandra.alexakis/
The last year was very busy for me: in addition to my job as comic book colorist (I've recently worked on the last issue of a Star Trek mini series!), I once again enrolled in an art school located in Rome, the IDEA Academy, to attend the Visual Development course... and I had a blast! I e
Just a quickie...
(...especially for my commissioners!) I won't be reachable till next Monday, 'cause I'm going to Lucca Comics and Games (the most important Italian comicon!) - I'll bring a laptop with me, just in case... also, maybe I'll even manage to keep on working on commissions and stuff, anyway! :'D
See you in a week! :)
To my new watchers!
I guess my Kataang family piece has once again popped in some other platforms recently, since I had an explosion of comments and favs, as well as tons of new watchers! :'D I'd love to thank you all individually, but you're way too many, so... THANK YOU!! Thank you very much for your support... even though I'm not posting much lately :)
I'm working on some projects with some other comic artists, so I've been a bit busy :) And also, to be honest, this year has been kinda "poor", speaking of drawing... I guess I caught a weird form of artblock that doesn't fade away much easily *sighs* But I'm working on it!! :'D
Thank you again and t
